Hi Christopher.

Dragon fruits (soft pink outside) inside a thousand black seeds, smaller than poppy-seeds, in white flesh.
Yesterday I was at the market, hands full ( dog leash, 2x green coconuts, bread, four cucumbers, one kilo of tomatoes and 10 eggs- and the fruit woman insists I sample the latest variety of dragon fruit.
Dense and juicy deep crimson…I was wearing a white linen shirt!

Thanks, Susan, fellow fruitophile (I assume you are referring to my July 20 blog entry, “Italy, Blackcurrants, and a Strategic Bit of Casual Name-Dropping…”). Your list of Vietnamese/Asian fruits does make my mouth water. I enjoyed some delightful and exotic fresh fruits when I was in Malaysia and Thailand, but I don’t think I’ve ever eaten dragon fruit and I know I haven’t eaten green coconuts. Something to put on my “to do” (or “to eat”) list!

In reply to Merzek Marco. Wish I could read Robbers in Italian, Marco. Because you've read the novel in Italian, reading it in English will be easier, and you can compare the two texts. (Otherwise I would suggest reading one of my other books where there is less slang and the English is a bit simpler.)

You know I read Robbers in Italian, and so did my father!!! I really enjoyed it: now I’ll go and search for the english copy even because this will help me with the forthcoming English exam. I promise you: one by one, I’ll read all your books; in English of course!!!!

If I’m not mistaken, the BBC also made a number of TV/movie productions of Le Carré’s works, including at least one mini-series. I haven’t seen them (or heard the radio dramas) but would like to. My friend Bill in Leeds plans to loan them to me, I think.

Lately, and this may interest you, Marie, being a Scot, I’ve been reading about the Celts and Druids. Trying to connect with my Scots-Irish roots, you might say. (My mom’s surname was Kirkland, Scot for sure, and my dad’s surname was Carroll, from the Irish.)

Hi. The a few years ago the BBC dramatised the entire Le Carre canon as radio drama. Utterly magnificent! If you can get hold of them in CD form then do so.
